Any unique phone or email you message in a month. Send 1 message or 1,000 to the same contact - still $0.005. Simple.
When a customer messages you first, all your replies within the 24h window are free — Meta doesn't charge for those. To start a conversation yourself (marketing, utility, authentication), you need a template, and Meta bills that directly based on country and category. We only charge the $0.005 MAU fee either way.

WhatsApp inbound is free. SMS inbound has carrier costs (same as outbound). No Zavu fee on top. New contacts count toward MAU.
